Social Media Ponderings and A little break by the sea…

I’ve been trying to get a better at writing my blog over the last few months, and now that I’m starting to see the light at the end of my crazy busy summer, it’s time to get back down to some writing…

I post almost daily on my social media, but lately, I’ve found myself wondering “what if instagram was hacked or closed down tomorrow”?

I have almost 6000 of you following my instagram and facebook accounts, but I keep reading horror stories about small businesses with 100’s of thousands of followers getting hacked and loosing their profile and therefore all of those followers in an instant!

I’m still going to post on my socials, but starting from today, I’m going to set myself the target of at least “trying” (note how I’m being non-committal here!) to write a new blog every two weeks.

So, onto today’s blog…

I’ve just got home after a week’s holiday on the beautiful Pembrokeshire coast, and of course it was a break from work in the usual sense, but an artist never really stops, and I spent my week taking lots of photos of things that I thought “might” become inspiration for jewellery!

Nature is just wonderful and the sea highlights this so well. We watched the tide going in and out and how it left behind a new picture each time. We walked along the costal path and talked about how the scenery looks completely different when you turn around and walk back the same way! We also went on a boat trip and saw sooo many baby seals, but I was too busy hanging on and getting drenched with seaspray as the boat bounced over the waves to take photos of that!!

If you already follow my work, you’ll know I’m already all about texture, so that, combined with my iPhone 13 macro, meant that I was able to take some amazing close ups of sections of rock as well as trying to capture some of the shapes of the coastline.

I’m now just starting to turn these into drawings…playing with shapes and ideas that “might” one day become actual pieces of jewellery.
